Superb facilities and extra-curricular activities for all our Hedgehogs

Our Hedgehog room is designated for our children aged between, the term after the child is 2 years old, and the term after the child is 3 years old, depending on their development, starting point and their age.

The Hedgehog room is designed for 2½ – 3½ year-olds and is situated on the ground floor of the main church. We have many natural resources and items to support The Curiosity Approach. The children have regular access to the garden area, which enables the EYFS curriculum to continue outside and includes designated areas for role play, mark making, music, growing vegetables, sand and water play and a mud kitchen. Children toilet training have the opportunity to gain confidence and independence in our adapted facilities which are incorporated in the room for easy access.

Many light projections are used within our areas to provide awe and wonder opportunities. Each year we subscribe to our Incredible Eggs hatching programme, which allows the children to watch ducklings or chicks hatch from their eggs and then experience feeding and handling them before they return to the farm for rehoming. Our Insect Lore programme provides the children with the amazing experience of seeing the Caterpillars embarking on the first part of the Butterfly lifecycle. They watch the whole process up close before releasing the beautiful butterflies into the wild. Cultural Capital opportunities are gained via our trips to the local community, our link with the Trends of Africa Charity, Our International postcard exchange, sponsoring a child in Africa and our visits to the local care home.
