Superb facilities and extra-curricular activities for all our Owls

Our Owl room is designated for our children aged between approximately the term after their 3rd birthday and 5 years of age, depending on their development, starting point and their age.

The Owl room is situated on the top floor of the main church. We have many natural resources and items to support The Curiosity Approach. The children have regular access to the garden area, which enables the EYFS curriculum to continue outside and includes designated areas for role play, mark making, music, growing vegetables, sand and water play and a mud kitchen. Children toilet training have the opportunity to gain confidence and independence in our adapted facilities, which are incorporated in the room for easy access.

Many light projections are used within our areas to provide awe and wonder opportunities. Each year, we subscribe to our Incredible Eggs hatching programme, which allows the children to watch ducklings or chicks hatch from their eggs and then experience feeding and handling them before they return to the farm for rehoming. Our Insect Lore programme provides the children with the amazing experience of seeing the Caterpillars embarking on the first part of the Butterfly lifecycle. They watch the whole process up close before releasing the beautiful butterflies into the wild. Cultural Capital opportunities are gained via our trips into the local community, our link with the Trends of Africa Charity, our International postcard exchange, sponsoring a child in Africa and our visits to the local care home.

We have a School Readiness programme which runs from the September prior to starting school. We introduce our Phonics programme, Robot Reg, to our children, which is part of our extra-curricular classes. The children will be introduced to all their phase 1 sounds before they leave us. Mathematics is embedded into the learning environment, and many activities provide opportunities for mathematical concepts to be learnt during play. Mandy from Lingotots delivers our French sessions, and Hannah from Distinct Dance provides a fun physical session to music with the children.

Owl's Garden Space

Our garden space offers a secure space for the children to enjoy the seven areas of learning. The babies have their own designated space and the older children have a large area to free flow into from our Squirrel room comprising of an artificial grass area which has a growing area incorporated around the edge. This leads into an enchanted woodland area which provides opportunities for mini beast hunts as well as our mid kitchen and small world opportunities.
